LoyJoy CEO Ulf Loetschert on the Deutschlandfunk podcast about AI in SMEs

At the beginning of April, we had the opportunity to present ourselves at the largest AI and data festival in Europe, data:unplugged in Münster. But it wasn’t just our stand that was a highlight - our CEO Ulf Loetschert was interviewed for the Deutschlandfunk podcast ‘KI verstehen’. In the episode ‘KI im Mittelstand - Wie Firmen ihre Datenschätze clever nutzen’, Ulf shared exciting insights into the work of LoyJoy and how AI-based chatbots have become an integral part of customer interactions for companies from various industries. Here are the highlights:

1. AI chatbots in customer service 🤖

A key topic of the discussion was how companies can use AI chatbots to make customer service more efficient. This is where LoyJoy’s chatbots come into play: Ulf explained that some partner companies, such as RTL+, are now able to answer almost 98% of customer enquiries automatically. This means that the streaming service can also respond quickly to a sudden increase in enquiries, for example during a live broadcast or in the event of technical problems. This would not be possible with a traditional hotline, especially in the evening and at weekends.

2. Generative AI for customised solutions ✨

Ulf explained how LoyJoy used generative AI to set the course for a new era of customer dialogue as early as 2023. LoyJoy was an early adopter of advanced generative AI to enable more complex, contextualised interactions. This technology is not only used by large companies such as TRUMPF and Covestro, but also by medium-sized companies that want to optimise their processes through the use of AI.

3. Diverse application possibilities of AI

LoyJoy uses AI chatbots not only in customer service, but also in other areas such as marketing, sales and product consulting. One example Ulf mentioned is product advice on websites. Here, the chatbots not only help to answer customer questions, but also to collect contact data, which is a valuable resource for companies in terms of customer acquisition and retention.

4. New: The Streaming Buddy for RTL+ 🚀

Another exciting project currently being developed at LoyJoy is the Streaming Buddy for RTL+. The chatbot is designed to give viewers personalised film and series tips based on their preferences. Although this project is still in the test phase, it shows the enormous potential of AI in the area of personalisation and customer satisfaction - and we are proud to be helping to shape these developments.
